“In a similar way to which Prince effortlessly blurred the edges between rock and funk, she’s not bound by structure or form.”
- Blues in Britain
A sound uniquely hers.
Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, songwriter, and producer Evan Nicole Bell creates music at the intersection of electric blues, soulful Americana, and cinematic storytelling. Driven by her sultry mezzo-soprano voice, intricate acoustic fingerpicking, and fiery, “Hendrixian” electric guitar work, Bell has developed a sound unmistakably her own: rooted in tradition but unbound by genre.
Her debut album, Shades of Blue, arrived via Hummingbird Records in January 2025. The self-written and self-produced 10-track collection reached No. 1 on Roots Music Report’s Top Singer/Songwriter Albums Chart, with additional placements on the iTunes Top 100, the Americana Music Association’s Top Albums Chart, and the Big Blues Chart. Its vinyl and CD editions sold out, reaching listeners in more than 22 countries.
Critics have hailed Shades of Blue as “nothing short of superb” (Blues in Britain), while acclaimed Americana songwriter Todd Snider described Bell’s sound as “Prince meets Lightnin’ Hopkins.” Finland’s Blues News named her “the best, most interesting, and most innovative new artist [we’ve] heard since Alicia Keys,” likening her singular artistry to “Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, and Etta James all in one.” Her music has received airplay in more than 25 countries, and her work has been featured by NPR Music, Baltimore Magazine, Blues in Britain, and Blues News.
GRAMMY®-nominated artist G. Love invited Bell to co-write and perform “Feel Me Better,” the lead single from Ode to R.L. Boyce, a tribute album for the late Hill Country blues legend R.L. Boyce.
Bell is currently recording her sophomore album, slated for release in 2026.
